CHALLENGES IN ONCOLOGY PHARMACOTHERAPY AND PATIENT CARE-CHALLENGES, CHANGE, HOPE AND EXCELLENCE

Pharmacists working in oncology are facing  many challenges ,which in our opinion will be the roadmap for the future .The Roadmap will address challenges, change, hope and Excellence.

We are going to discuss this challenges on 3 levels ,3 dimensions,3 settings and 3 layers  .The 3 levels are before, during and after the prescription of medication .The 3 dimensions will represent patient care, Education and research. The 3 settings will be Inpatient, Outpatient and multispecialty. The 3 layers will include Patients, Nurses and Physicians .The “Umbrella Model” that we will discuss will also show the challenges regarding governance, standards and how to “Translate theory into practice”.

Onology pharmacotherapy and the challenges in integrating the Medication management and patient care process will be discussed

A Dashboard will be used to identify the future improvement and a competency framework will be discussed to overcome challenges.

At the End each participant should envision his individual roadmap toward his future role in his setting.

  • Identify the role of the pharmacist in different levels and settings
  • List key performance indicator for oncology pharmacy
  • Individualize a roadmap to manage challenges in an oncology setting
