Amna Al-Hashar is a senior clinical pharmacist working in Sultan Qaboos University Hospital (SQUH), Pharmacy Department. She started working at SQUH in 1993 and took several positions there such as a clinical pharmacist in Medicine and thereafter Oncology services, head of in-patient and clinical services in the pharmacy, training coordinator and deputy head of department of pharmacy. Amna completed her B.Sc. in Pharmacy in King Saud University in Saudi Arabia in 1992 and did her M.Sc. in Clinical Pharmacy in University of Strathclyde in 1996. She completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Pharmacy in Sultan Qaboos University in August 2016.

Amna’s main interests are medication safety, adverse drug events, medication counselling and adherence, therapeutic drug monitoring, diabetes and pain management. She is participating in the teaching activities for medical students in college of medicine and for masters in clinical pharmacy program in Sultan Qaboos University.
She has been active in teaching at workshops provided for staff at SQUH such as pharmacists, nurses and other health care providers. Amna has participated in a number of publications at medical and pharmaceutical journals and presentations at national and international conferences. Amna is keen to develop and improve patient education and awareness and particularly to introduce the concept of patients’ activation in Oman.
