Dr FaryalKhamis completed medical school training at the Sultan Qaboos University in Oman in 1993. Following a residency program in Internal Medicine at University of Minnesota in 1999 she did fellowships in Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at Duke University Medical Center. She is currently the head of Infectious Diseases Department at Royal Hospital in Muscat, Oman. She chairs the Infection Prevention and Control Committee.

Dr.FaryalKhamis has several publications in scientific journals. Her main interests include respiratory viral infections and infections in immunocompromised hosts including HIV.
