Dr. Elfaki (Sudanese nationality and medical doctor by profession) is currently the consultant and adviser of HRH planning and Supervisor for the Policies and Health Systems Unit, at the MOH, Sultanate of Oman. He has more than 20 years of national and international experience in health system development, HRH strategic planning, primary health care and community-based development approaches, urban health planning, and emergency preparedness and response. He worked with the World Health Organization as a medical officer in Somalia, Iran and Syria and held many short assignments in Morocco, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Egypt, Syria, Qatar, Sultanate of Oman, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He has academic experience as a lecturer for MPH students in the Public Health Institute in Sudan, the Royal Tropical Institute in the Netherlands and as visiting lecturer for Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine in the College of Public Health and Health Informatics, King Saud bin Abdelaziz University for Health Sciences in Riyadh. He has extensive experience in developing and evaluating national health policies and strategic plans. Furthermore he developed training materials and conducted several training workshops in health policy and strategy development, leadership and management, consensus building, healthy cities and community-based initiatives, result-based planning, monitoring and evaluation, and human resources for health strategic planning and projections.
