BiographyDr Daniels is Chief Pharmacy Officer at UC San Diego Health, Associate Dean for Professional Practice, and Clinical Professor in the Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of California San Diego.
He is responsible for the strategy and performance of the UC San Diego Health Pharmacy Department. This includes inpatient, clinic pharmacy, retail, home infusion, infusion center, and specialty pharmacy enterprise. He has recently led initiatives to expand services in transitions of care, specialty pharmacy, and ambulatory services.
Dr. Daniels received a BS in Pharmacy from the University of Arizona, completed a residency in hospital pharmacy at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, and earned a PhD in Social and Administrative Pharmacy at the University of Minnesota. He has held pharmacy leadership positions at the University of Minnesota, and as Pharmacy Chief at the NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, MD.
Dr. Daniels is a fellow of the American Society of Health-Systems Pharmacists, and has been honored with the John W. Webb award for his health system leadership. He was elected to membership as Correspondant à titre étranger of the French Academie Nationale de Pharmacie, and as served as a reviewer and visiting faculty member at several international academic medical centers. He serves as a member of the ASHP Foundation Visiting Leaders Faculty. He has authored or co-authored more than 50 journal articles and book chapters.
