Associate professor of pharmacy practice and pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance consultant, Saudi Arabia


Dr Thamir Alshammari is an Associate of pharmacy practice and pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacovigilance consultant. He is also a distinguished expert for the Chinese National drug safety and policy centre at Xian, China. He is a senior researcher at the Medication Safety Research Chair. Dr.Alshammari served dean of the college of pharmacy, University of Hail and also as the director of the national pharmacovigilance and drug safety centre, Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA). He has several initiatives during his work at SFDA including reviewing process, benefit-risk analysis, DHCPLs and others. He is a member of several committees and he serves as a chair in some of them.
Dr.Alshammari Has over 65 publications in peer-reviewed journals and been invited for many national and international conferences and meetings. Dr Alshammari received his bachelor degree in pharmaceutical sciences from king Saud university. He also got his master degree in clinical pharmacy from the same school. Dr.Alshammari received his PhD in pharmacoepidemiology and pharmacoeconomics from university of Rhode Island, USA.

Dr.Alshammari did several fellowships including a post-doctoral fellowship at the Office of Surveillance and Epidemiology, US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). He was the only Saudi who did a post-doctoral fellowship at the FDA. Further, he did a pre-doctoral fellowship at veterans affair hospitals, USA. Also, he did several summer internship at the US FDA.
His area on research interests includes pharmacoepidemiology, pharmacovigilance and medication safety and Pharmacoeconomics.
